Renee Zarr, CPSTI

Injury Prevention Education Coordinator, Injury Free Coalition for Kids of

Renee Zarr is an Injury Prevention Education Coordinator for the KIPP (Kohl’s Injury Prevention Program) at Children’s Hospital of Michigan. She has been with Children’s since 2002 and has a passion for her career and working with children. Renee believes “Working with children must be in my blood, my sister was a nurse in the Emergency Department at Children’s Hospital and working with children comes naturally to me”. In 2002, Renee became a member of the Metro-Detroit Safe Kids, Injury Free Coalition for Kids, and became a certified Child Safety Passenger Technician. In 2010, she became a Child Passenger Safety Instructor. Her greatest acknowledgement is educating students, children and families about injury prevention. She feels that we cannot focus all of our attention on one injury prevention topic, because every circumstance of an unintentional injury is just as important as the others. That is why education to the children, students and parents is the key to opening up their front door and letting our prevention information in. Renee has been installing Smoke Detectors in homes since 2001, before she began working at Children’s Hospital. Renee states, “I love a challenge. My career gives me the opportunity to be creative and to be myself. Working at Children’s for the past 11 years has made me discover the possibilities I have within myself”.
