We will hear from a long-time expert in car seat safety for children with special health care needs and in safe ambulance safety. Her development of safe transport methods will inform future injury prevention strategies.

Dr. Bull is a graduate of the University of Michigan Medical School. She did a pediatric residency at Children’s Memorial Hospital of Chicago and a fellowship in Birth Defects and Genetic Counseling at Boston Floating Hospital. She has served on the faculty at the Indiana University Medical Center since 1976 where she currently is the Morris Green Professor Emeritus of Pediatrics at Riley Hospital for Children. Dr. Bull serves as Co-Medical Director of the Automotive Safety for Children Program at Indiana University where her research interests include safe transportation of children with special health care needs and ambulance transportation safety.

Dr. Bull is a frequent participant in continuing medical education programs for the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Academy of Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine, the Association for the Advancement of Automotive Medicine, the Emergency Medical Services for Children and medical centers across the country and speaks nationally and internationally on several topics including Down syndrome and occupant protection, especially safe transportation of children with disabilities.

1. The participant will understand principles for safe transportation of children with Special Healthcare Needs.
2. The participant will learn methods and process that were utilized in developing resources for safe travel for Children with Special Needs.
3. The participant will become aware of resources currently available regarding prevention of injuries for Children with Special Health Care Needs.
