Clare Decker is the Injury Prevention Manager at Children’s Hospital Colorado, where she leads community-based injury prevention programs and oversees all child passenger safety initiatives system-wide. Clare holds a Bachelor of Arts in Neuroscience and Psychology from Ohio Wesleyan University and a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Pittsburgh. She is a certified Child Passenger Safety Technician Instructor and Safe Travel for All Children Instructor. Clare's team engages families at community events, manages and operates a hospital-based Safety Store, and provides pediatric injury prevention subject matter expertise to various partner organizations. Her work provides families with essential education and resources to keep children safe in the car, at home, and at play.

How to Hold a Strategic Visioning Session for Your Injury Prevention Team

This workshop will help injury prevention team members and leaders explore a process for data-driven strategic visioning for their IP program. The presentation will include an overview of how to prepare (gather data/plan the session), run the session (exercises), communicate and draw ideas out of team members, collaborate to select priorities, and take notes and consolidate into a plan to share with leadership/decision-makers. Attendees will engage by practicing exercises live in the workshop.
1. Overview of how to conduct a strategic visioning session with a team

3. Guiding the session - how to explain the purpose of exercises, individual and group reflection, communication, group prioritization and ownership, note taking
4. Consolidate ideas into a prescriptive plan to share with team members, leadership, partners, and decision-makers
5. Show how this process worked for the Children's Hospital Colorado Injury Prevention Team for 2026 annual strategic visioning, what we've accomplished using this process, challenges along the way, and lessons learned
SPICA Car Seats - CPST CEU

This CPST CEU is for techs who assist SPICA-casted patients and their families with fittings for adaptive seats for the duration of their casting. The CEU will include an introduction to SPICA casts and why they may cause car seat fitting challenges, as well as how the two adaptive seats featured in this workshop often overcome those barriers. We will also discuss harness adjustments and installation education using the Wallenberg rear-facing and the Spirit SPICA forward-facing. Finally, CPSTs will learn some tips and tricks for fitting these seats and educating caregivers about their use, as well as offer some hands-on time with the seats and the opportunity to ask questions.
