Community Hero Award

August 14, 2007 - Injury Free Coalition for Kids of Baltimore

8/14/2007 On June 14, the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health Center for Injury Research and Policy (CIRP) presented the third annual Community Hero Award to the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control (NCIPC).

The award was given in recognition of the agency's "significant and sustained leadership in advancing the science and practice of injury prevention and control," and was presented during CIRP's 16th Annual Summer Institute on Injury Prevention and Control.

"We are especially honored to be recognized by CIRP," said Ileana Arias, PhD, director, NCIPC, who accepted the award. "The CDC Injury Center has been instrumental in building the science and knowledge base for the prevention of injuries and violence through its research, support, and application of science through global, national, state, and local initiatives. These efforts benefit communities by reducing the suffering caused by injuries and helping to save lives."
