Lois K. Lee, M.D., M.P.H., FAAP, of Boston, has been chosen by AAP members as the Academy’s president-elect and will serve as president in 2028.
Dr. Lee ran against Wanda D. Barfield, M.D., M.P.H., FAAP, of Atlanta, and will succeed Terri D. McFadden, M.D., M.P.H., FAAP, of Atlanta, who will serve as AAP president in 2027.
“I am deeply honored by the trust that AAP members have placed in me as president-elect,” Dr. Lee said. "I'm also grateful to Dr. Wanda Barfield for her dedication to children and families and for her service to our academy throughout this election process.”
Dr. Lee is a senior associate in pediatrics in the Division of Emergency Medicine, associate director for public policy at the Fenwick Institute, and senior faculty adviser in the Office of Health Equity and Inclusion at Boston Children's Hospital. She is the immediate past chair of the AAP Council on Injury, Violence and Poison Prevention Executive Committee.
“I look forward to working with pediatricians, pediatric medical subspecialists and pediatric surgical specialists, trainees, and child health advocates across the Academy to advance the health and well-being of children, support the pediatric workforce, and ensure that the voice of pediatrics continues to be a trusted force for children and families,” she said.
