August 15, 2003 - Injury Free Coalition for Kids of Atlanta
The annual Summer Safety Camp sponsored by the Injury Free Coalition For Kids-Atlanta at Hughes Spalding Children’s Hospital was a great success this year. This year we partnered with the Frank Ski Kids Foundation to provide Metropolitan Atlanta area children with important health and safety information. The Summer Safety Camp was featured during a live broadcast of the Frank Ski Morning Show on WVEE, V103-FM, from Greenbriar Mall's - Magic Johnson Movie Theatre Tuesday morning, June 10. The camp offered fun and informative activities on topics ranging from bicycle, fire and home safety, violence prevention, pedestrian safety, and occupant safety.
There were 2000+ kids and family members present and 18 supporting agencies. The Injury Free Coalition For Kids-Atlanta at Hughes Spalding Children’s Hospital - Department of Community Health gave away 100 bike helmets, nearly 100 car seats and numerous promotional items. The Lt. Gov Mark Taylor and Micheal Julian Bond (NAACP) were both present on behalf of IFCK and served as Summer Safety Camp Ambassador's. Frank Ski and V-103 were very pleased and spoke of future partnerships. We would like to thank everyone for their hard work and effort.
