April 7, 2003 - Injury Free Coalition for Kids of Atlanta
Injury Free Coalition for Kids partners with Atlanta Workforce Development Agency and creates a Summer Youth Injury Prevention Health Educator Team. Youth participate in the program and recieve pay from the Atlanta Workforce Development Agency: Atlanta Youth At Work initiative. The 13 youth are ages 14-18 and are assigned to Injury Free Coalition for Kids - Atlanta @ Hughes Spalding Children's Hospital site for a 6 week period where they recieve Injury Prevention Training and develop a Health Edcuation Product to help educate other youth on injury prevention and their roles to help reduce injury in their family and their community. This program has created an opportunity to expose youth from low to very low-income families who benefit from Hughes Spalding's Children's Hospital programs and service the opportuntiy to expand their knowledge of various health careers and learn new valuable skills that will help them in their future growth and assist us in our plight to reduce injury in the most creative ways.
