Shining a Green Light

Program/Event Details:
By STHS Communication Department

STHS’s new South tower is going green.

On Thursday (Nov. 18), the tower stairwell will be illuminated in green in recognition of the second annual National Injury Prevention Day, organized by the Injury Free Coalition for Kids to raise awareness for injury and violence prevention.

Injuries are the leading cause of death and disability to American children, with an average of 20 deaths per day resulting from preventable injuries – more deaths among children than all diseases combined.

In lighting the tower in green, STHS joins trauma centers and community advocates across the country in shining a light on the cause. Among other places that will be lighting up in green are the Hemsley Building in New York, the Johns Hopkins Dome in Baltimore, the John Hancock Building in Chicago and bridges in Arkansas, Houston and Rochester, N.Y.
