Program/Event Details:
Dr. Lois Lee, former IFCK Board President and current AAP COIVPP President, addressed the GA AAP Chapter at their Fall Chapter Conference "Pediatrics on the Parkway" for a featured advocacy lecture on National Injury Prevention Day regarding firearm safety. She spent 1 hour discussing pediatric firearm injury trends/disparities and shared what pediatricians could do for firearm safety including modeling best practices for firearm safety counseling among pediatric patient families and ways to be a gun safety advocate. Pediatricians learned how to have these firearm safety conversations and were shown data to support that they are impactful in improving safe storage practices.

Equipment: Immediately after the session, attendees had the opportunity to receive a free copy of Dr. Lee's book, "Pediatric Firearm Injuries and Fatalities: The Clinician's Guide to Policies and Approaches to Firearm Harm Prevention" at her book signing. 20 books were distributed for free and attendees were also given discount code for future purchases.

Coalition Partnerships/Relationships: GA AAP chapter members and leaders across multiple healthcare institutions and practices across GA had the opportunities to discuss collaborative approaches for firearm safety with Injury Free Atlanta chapter members.
