Program/Event Details:
For National Injury Prevention Day, The Center for Injury and Violence Prevention at Yale-New Haven Hospital will distribute trigger locks and biometric gun lock boxes to parents who own firearms. We hope to distribute these through our Primary Care Center and through our Hospital-Based Violence Intervention program.
In addition, we also held a safety fair at the New Haven Primary Care Consortium, where 100 families were counseled on topics such as safe infant sleep, child passenger and bicycle safety, and drowning prevention, in addition to safe firearm storage.
The entire staff (7 total) of the Center for Injury and Violence Prevention were present from 9 am to 3 pm at the New Haven Primary Care Consortium.
