Community Programs and Events

Program/Event Details:
UT Health Houston/Children's Memorial Hospital team will have two focus areas: Traffic Safety and Burn Prevention for the 2024 National Injury Prevention Day.

UT Health Houston and Children's Memorial Hermann were able to provide safety resources that served over 250 individuals. This includes but not limited to child passenger safety, suicide prevention, poison control, firearm safety, safe sleep and burn prevention educational material. These were provided throughout the weeks leading up to National Injury Prevention Day and reached many community individuals. Hospital and clinic staff was educated and empowered to continue to provide further safety education to other individuals.

Key distribution locations include o Children’s Memorial Hermann – 9 Hermann (inpatient unit) to incorporate burn prevention items with their Twists, Locs and Curls Project o UTH – outpatient clinics, Division Child Safety and Integrated Care, Children’s Learning Institute o Harris County Resources for Children and Adults – UTH Community Clinic
