Community Programs and Events

Program/Event Details:
The team at Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego is very excited to increase our presence for Injury Prevention Day 2021. We have three options we are exploring for lighting up green. The three options we are considering are Rady Children’s Rose Pavilion Tower, San Diego and County Administration Building or Coronado Bridge. All three need further exploration into feasibility. With our new Mayor, Todd Gloria, we will propose a resolution to draw attention to the importance of Injury Prevention. We will work with our adult hospital partners to engage them in recognizing this day. We will also broaden our reach to other prevention organizations to join our planning and develop their own events that recognize national Injury prevention. It is our intent to set up a safety resource station within the hospital staffed with Health Educators hospital to provide injury prevention information including free bicycle helmets and fittings, water watcher tags, prescriptions for a free swim lesson and an opportunity drawing for a free bicycle. We will engage our ER nurses as we did last year with green ribbons (or buttons) and palm cards with key tips for preventing the leading causes of injury in San Diego. They will share these patients and their families. We will work for both social media and television announcements. Finally, we will participate in the Twitter chat and to encourage our partners to participate. The weekend prior to NIPD we are planning a Safety Fair with our community partners including AAA, san Diego City Parks and Recreation, San Diego Fire and Rescue and others.

Dates and Times:
The community Fair will be November 13th 9:00am to 1:00pm Other NIPD events will happen on November 18th.
