Community Programs and Events

Program/Event Details:
Staff will be visiting Hasbro Children's Hospital to meet with caregivers and children who are admitted to the ED. Staff will be handing out home safety kits, touchless thermometers, paperwork on an assortment of safety topics, and the children will be receiving a Sam the Safety Squirrel plush stuffed animal. Staff will talk about car seat safety, bicycle helmet safety, and any other safety topic a caregiver would like to discuss. A raffle will be done for some caregivers to win a carbon monoxide detector.

On Friday the 17th, IPC staff visited four floors at Hasbro Children's Hospital, as well as the hospital's Refugee Clinic. Fifty (50) care packages (see description above) were delivered to families with children from infant to five (5) years of age. Six (6) battery operated carbon monoxide detectors were raffled off. On Saturday the 18th, CPST's from Safe Kids RI, the 4Safety program, North Providence Police Department, and the Cranston Police Department conducted a car seat checkpoint. Many car seats were checked resulting in safer children on the roadways.

The hospital event had 3 individuals passing out the care packages. The event was from 1-3pm The CPS event had 3 individuals checking car seats. The event was from 10a-1p.

Partnerships throughout the State were strengthened as a result of everyone's efforts. This was the first year a CPS event was conducted.
