Community Programs and Events

Program/Event Details:
The Injury Free Coalition for Kids' Illinois Medical District site plans to collaborate with Rush's School Based Health Center (SBHC) at Simpson Academy for Young Women to host a Safety Shower in the fall of 2021 in collaboration with their Bellies2Babies program. Simpson Academy for Young Women is Chicago Public School's high school for pregnant and parenting students. Preparing for parenting is just one of many responsibilities for these young women, and we aim to support the safety and well-being of their infants through providing carseats, cribettes, sleep sacks, board books, and child product safety guides in an educational and supportive baby shower hosted at their school.

Rush University Medical Center operates the SBHC at Simpson Academy. The center's providers, including nurse practitioners and social workers, create a positive and supportive healthcare environment for the school's young women. Collaborating with Rush's SBHC at Simpson to host the baby shower allows for education and safe infant product provision from a trusted and reliable source.
