If you drove by the admitting circle at St. Joseph’s before sunrise this morning, you weren’t seeing things — it was lit green, and will be green again tonight, in light of National Injury Prevention Day (Nov. 18). Along with others across the country, our Level I Trauma Team is literally shining a green light on the topic of injury education to raise awareness about prevention and the impact that injuries have on people's lives, including death. Injury leads to more than 18 million ER visits in the U.S. every year, and nearly three million hospitalizations. Falls are among the most common injury types treated in trauma centers and emergency rooms, and St. Joseph's cared for 1,263 fall-related injuries from July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2024.
