Associate Professor, Injury Free Coalition for Kids of
Juan M. Parra, M.D., M.P.H., is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Dr. Parra received a BA degree in Biology from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio and has obtained his medical doctorate degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and a Masters in Public Health from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, School of Public Health San Antonio Branch. He is a consultant for multiple agencies and hospitals in the area of child abuse and neglect. Dr. Parra is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and is a member of the Child Abuse and Neglect Committee and Co-Chair of the Injury and Poison Prevention Committee of The Texas Pediatric Society. He is a member of the International Society for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect. Currently, Dr. Parra is the chair of the Bexar County Child Fatality Review Committee, Medical Director of the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Program at Christus Santa Rosa Children’s Hospital and is the Associate Director of the Medical Hispanic Center of Excellence at the UT Health Science Center at San Antonio.
