Medical Director, Pediatric Emergency Department, Injury Free Coalition for Kids of
Vidya T. Chande, M.D. is the Medical Director of the Pediatric Emergency Department at Blank Children’s Hospital. Along with her administrative responsibilities for the emergency department, she is an attending physician and a pediatric resident faculty advisor. Dr. Chande is also a member of the clinical faculty at the University of Iowa College of Medicine. She is a member of the Iowa’s Trauma System Advisory Committee and the Emergency Medical Services Advisory Council.
For more than 10 years, Dr. Chande has published articles in peer reviewed journals on pediatric research, emergency care and injury prevention. She continues to educate her colleagues by giving presentations on injury prevention topics such as head injuries, child passenger safety and transporting children with special needs. Dr. Chande has been involved as principal investigator of several grants including a federal targeted issues grant from the Emergency Medical Services for Children program. She is involved in many aspects of community education and injury prevention.
Dr. Chande is a graduate of the University of Iowa College of Medicine. She completed her residency in pediatrics and fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.
