Children are different from adults and need their own specialized medical center just for them. Our pediatric trauma referral center is staffed with physicians and nurses who specialize in pediatric medicine. As a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center, our pediatric surgeons and other pediatric specialists provide the highest level of trauma care for our children. TGH transports critically ill or injured patients from 23 surrounding counties aboard our five aeromedical helicopters that are equipped with the most advanced life support equipment. Tampa General Hospital’s Level I Pediatric Trauma Center is the first and only program in Florida to achieve verification from the American College of Surgeons (ACS) for the quality of its trauma care. The ACS recognizes Tampa General’s Level I Pediatric Trauma Center for its dedication to providing optimal care for children, as well as its demonstrated commitment to education, research and community outreach.
As a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center program we have access to the most updated trauma statistics and base our programs on the needs of our community. Our partnerships include: More Health, law enforcement, EMS departments and school districts.
