State of the Coalition and Expansion Plan: Barbara Barlow, MD will discuss the new expansion grant and the Injury Prevention Center at the Columbia University School of Public Health.

NACHRI Conference Update: Karen Seaver Hill, Beth Edgerton, MD, Lenita Johnson, MA, will focus on the collaboration between The Injury Free Coalition for Kidssm and the National Association of Children's Hospitals and Related Institutions (NACHRI). They will provide an update on the "Partners in Prevention: Making Communities Injury Free" conference, funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to be held April 19-20, 2002 in Dallas, TX. This workshop will also highlight the role of the Injury Prevention Advisory Committee, convened to guide the conference content development.

Research & Evaluation Tools: Maureen Durkin, PhD, DPH will lay the groundwork for the Coalition's national research and evaluation efforts. She will discuss the national model for gathering information and she will talk about research surrounding the Safe at Home and on the Road with Allstate home safety initiative.

The following workshops are designed to promote discussion on research, community coalitions, and communication. Group leaders will be responsible for focusing and recording discussion; however, your active participation is expected and valued. Each participant may sign up for two workshops. The workshops will be repeated.

Data/Research: Maureen Durkin, PhD, DPH, Denise Dowd, MD, MPH and Joyce Pressley, PhD, MPH will lead a discussion on the development of research across and within sites.

Community Coalitions: Aissatou Bey-Grecia and Alina Bueno, MPH will lead a discussion on how to develop and sustain strong community programming.

Dissemination of Information: Flaura Winston, MD, PhD and E. Lenita Johnson, MA will lead a discussion on obtaining press coverage and getting published.

Communications & Website: Lenita Johnson will discuss Coalition communication efforts, introduces the website designers and discusses the Site Development and Program Resource Guide.

Finance & Administration: Ben Anagnos will answer your questions and provide information about taking care of the business of Injury Free.

RWJ Foundation: Judy Stavisky, Senior Program Officer of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, will address the Injury Free Coalition for Kids.

Injury Free Coalition for Kidssm Small Group Meetings: Monday afternoon from 2:00-5:00 p.m. has been left unscheduled so that you may plan small group meetings on a program, a research idea, etc. that you would like to discuss with your fellow coalition members. We have three breakout rooms available during this time, so there will be space for at least nine different small group meetings. Please complete the enclosed Small Group Meeting form and return it to your PI by August 8th so that they can be included in the conference registration packets. They will be posted for conference attendees to sign up.
