The How do I Stay Safe Calendar Contest is an early prevention program that targets children ages 4 – 11 years by introducing and reinforcing safety messages as well as enhancing school involvement in injury prevention. The program consists of a district wide contest for children to draw how they stay safe at home or school that culminates with an educational award ceremony at each winner’s school with sports safety prizes. The winning drawings are featured in a wall calendar for the following academic year, thereby reinforcing the safety messages and encouraging children to discuss safety with their peers and siblings.
